Access to top-tier data and analytics experts
Seniors, Community and Social Services requires access to senior and intermediate resources on an as-needed basis to support ongoing data management projects. The ministry needs to have resources be local and able to scale up or down quickly.
The solution
The solution
Long-standing partnership
Silver Creek has been delivering resources and services continuously since 1988, through its various reorganizations.
Business Intelligence
Silver Creek provided a team of Business Intelligence resources to design and construct the CPS Outcomes Business Intelligence Solution. This project integrated all of the ministry's outcomes-related source data (WORP and CAIS/TEAMS follow-up data) into a common data warehouse based on their enterprise data model. A CPS Outcomes Data Mart (star schemas) was constructed to enable multidimensional analysis of the data through information products via the SIE Portal. The primary objective was to enable standard and consistent reporting of WORP data and this objective was achieved. Silver Creek led the project from inception to completion (project plan development phase, requirements gathering phase, design phase, construction phase and system testing phases). Silver Creek designed and constructed the staging area, the warehouse, the data mart, all associated ETL routines, several information products, as well as a reference data management solution. The project was very well received by department managers and program design professionals. The project won a Premiers Award (Silver).
Application Development and Integrations
Silver Creek Software Ltd. provided a team of consultants to design develop and maintain the WORP application. WORP provides system integration between extracts of participants for surveys from various AHRE source systems (Student Finance, Career Assistance Information System, and Learners Income Support Assistance). Additionally, Silver Creek designed and developed the WORP Survey Loaders that load data from third-party survey companies into the enterprise database using .net and the AEI Enterprise Application Architecture. Silver Creek resources developed the Enterprise Data Mart data models and reporting processes to support the immediate business analysts and their client requests.
Project Management and Governance
The Ministry also engaged Silver Creek to lead a team of consultants and subject matter experts in a successful effort to author WORP Requirements / Design document to re-point WORP data loaders from one source system (CAIS) to the enterprise database. Silver Creek provided leadership, project roadmap and expertise to restart the initiative (SR 4488) into a successful project using best in class project management experience and knowledge. SCS provided resources in the following capacities: Web Application Developers, Data Warehouse Database Administrators, UAT Teams, ETL Development Teams, Data Steward's, Business Intelligence Consultants and Data Modelers.
Data Architecture
Silver Creek assisted with the ACSS project called BRAIN. Senior Silver Creek resources assisted SCSS Enterprise Architects with developing a long-term Business Intelligence Architecture Realignment Strategy (to realign SIE with the enterprise database).
Custom Applications and Reporting
Silver Creek Software Ltd. provided development and support services to SCSS for the following applications and reporting products for different audiences:

Access to a reliable, capable, and trusted partner
Silver Creek has brought superior work to SCSS since we began working for them more than 20 years ago. Since 1998, we have never had a break in service with the SCSS, have been in business with this Ministry year over year, contract over contract, with a proven track record for ramping up and down on resourcing to meet project lulls and highs. When SCSS required three new resources from January to March 2019, Silver Creek ramped up resources in a matter of days for the 1,000 hours of work. Our flexible resourcing model accommodates client needs.
